1965 Griffith 200 Gorgeous and rare!! $40,000 Mechanical refurbishment. Mechanically and cosmetically excellent!!!! Vin 2005173 The car on offer here is this fully sorted 1965 Griffith Series 200; #173 is one of fewer than 200 examples produced and has been the recipient of a $40,000 Mechanically refurbishment. It was acquired by us in 2023; the car is fully sorted and ready to go. The following work was performed and was not limited to the following; New Brakes front and rear (Front disk, rear drums), New master cylinder, brake lines Calipers and wheel cylinders. New Rear suspension including machined uprights (gorgeous) New shocks New bushings Engine removed, detailed, New rear main and front main seals New water pump Carburettors rebuilt New clutch with hydraulics New tires Body to Frame mountings rebonded Frame painted Seat mounts restored reengineered New wiring harness As can be seen, no expense was spared in the refurbishment of this car. She runs and drives The fiberglass bodywork is finished in Black over Peanut butter leather upholstery and tan carpets. Power comes from a 289ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a “three deuces Carburettors” (three 2 barrels) intake manifold with Griffith valve covers as well as Cerakoated headers with rear-exit exhaust pipes, an aluminum radiator with an electric fan, disc brakes, 15″ spoked wheels, a cowl-mounted electrical cutoff switch, a roll bar, three-point harnesses, and a gorgeous wood rimmed steering wheel. This Griffith is offered with records, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean title. The Series 200 was based on the TVR Grantura and was built by Griffith Motors, Inc. of Syosset, New York, between 1964 and 1965. The fiberglass bodywork on this car is finished in black and features chrome front and rear bumperettes, fender vents, aluminum rocker panel trim, rear-exit exhaust pipes, and a flip-up fuel cap. The fiberglass shows well and the rubber trim and aluminum window trim is excellent. The Griffith’s feature a tubular steel backbone chassis with a fully independent suspension. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. The cockpit features low-back fixed bucket seats trimmed in Peanut butter leather. Tan carpets are original, show some wear and the car has new matching floor matts. Additional equipment includes but is not limited to a rollbar, an open glovebox, and a driver’s seat harness as well as a three-point passenger seat unit. The wood rimmed steering wheel frames an 8k-rpm tachometer, a Smiths 160-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. Spare Smiths auxiliary gauges are included in the sale and can be seen in the gallery. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles, 11k of which were added under the seller’s ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The 289ci Ford V8 is fitted with Gurney/Eagle intake manifold and cylinder heads with magnesium valve covers as well as stainless steel headers. An engine removal, detail and reseal was done approx. 300 break in miles ago. The radiator was rebuilt with an adjustable electric fan fitted along with a new battery. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. A replacement clutch and cylinders was installed at the same time as the engine detail. The fuel tank was restored and the carburettors rebuilt. The car is both mechanically and cosmetically excellent.
