The Classic Car Gallery is proud to offer this beautiful 1969 Mercury Cougar XR-7 5-speed Convertible. The car has been repainted in Cinnamon Red Metallic, and shows well. A few small chips and minor door dings are the only blemishes in the finish. The engine is the venerable 351ci V8 with 4 barrel carburetor. The car runs extremely very well. No smoke is evident, and she runs cool. The car has a 5-speed transmission, and shifts well. The clutch has little wear and engages properly. She runs on a set new brakes, including new rotors and calipers in front, and drums in the rear. New hoses are evident, and the car received a full tune-up, including points, condenser, cap and rotor. A new carburetor base gasket was also installed. New spark plugs were also installed at this time. Full documentation of this latest service is available. The original black leather interior is excellent. The Cougar XR-7 interior is much more luxurious and better appointed than the more commonplace Mustangs. All gauges and mechanical systems work, as they should. The chrome bumpers are excellent, as is the stainless door trim. The white convertible top is excellent, and the rear 2-piece glass rear window is clear. The electric top mechanism works well. The suspension is tight, and runs on air-shocks in the rear. The exhaust system is in excellent condition. The car runs on Cragar rims and new B.F. Goodrich T/A Radials front and rear. The original Cougar wheels are included as well.
