The Porsche 928 was developed in the late 1970’s as the flagship and the heir to the throne of the of the Porsche dynasty. With a 4.5 liter front mounted V-8, the car was a startling departure from its earlier rear engined siblings. These cars exuded quality, from the amazing engineering to the sublime handling and performance; in its day, there was nothing that could compete with the 928 as an autobahn cruiser. These cars are fast appreciating, and are sure to be in the next generation of collector cars. This 20,500 mile, one owner car checks all of the boxes for collectibility. The car left the Porsche factory on September 11, 1981 and was delivered to Rexcoat Porsche Audi of Illinois. Driven only 20,500 miles, she remains in time capsule condition. The Chiffon White paint is gorgeous, with only the occasional chip. The interior is original with the exception of the radio. The Beige leather is soft and supple with almost no wear and the carpets and headliner are likewise in wonderful condition. The 4.5 liter aluminum engine starts and runs well with good horsepower and torque. The 5-speed manual shifts well and the clutch engages with authority. The car has been well maintained; the timing belt and water pump were replaced in 2013 and has gone less than 500 miles since. New tires were installed at the time and the original Teledial wheels were refinished. The suspension and steering are tight and the car handles well. All systems function as they should with the exception of the clock. The radio is not original, and currently has a Blaupunkt of correct vintage. The car comes with its original tool kit, jack, spare tire, manuals, original window sticker and purchase documentation. In addition, the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, Porsche keys, original new owner card and a clean and clear title comes with the car. Time capsule 928’s with this kind of mileage is extremely rare; this 928 would make the perfect addition to any collection.
